I tried watching season 9 on hulu, but sadly I only have hulu with ads and unfortunately watching stuff with ads is apparently unbearable to me these days...

I was okay with the last three seasons actually. 1999 was the weakest, Danger Island the best, but it was still Archer. Can't wait to see what the new season brings!

Shit, Archer was like my religion from like 2011-13... then I just sorta fell off the wagon. Read a little here and there about the ensuing genre seasons, and just never really bothered. Is Adam Reed still involved? I thought I read some where that he was done with it a while back. I have a hard time imagining it without his (and Ray’s) voice.

When the digital transition happened, I’d had a huge CRT television that I hadn’t turned on for a few years and didn’t bother to buy adapters for, but shortly after some tornadoes came through my area.
I decided that having a TV for emergencies wasn’t a terrible idea, so I did some research, bought a converter box from a friend, grabbed a nice antenna.
Set everything up, turned it on, and 5 minutes later I was tearing everything back down again. I just couldn’t handle commercials.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who felt this way! Hands down one of my favourite shows, and imo some of the best writing this side of the Simpsons’ golden era. Then the writing started to try to match the theme of each season and it....just stopped being as funny.

I can’t agree more. It’s one of my favourite shows, and I know the first five or six seasons line for line, but the writing took a serious turn downhill. I almost wonder if their staff changed. Let’s hope this is where it turns around! No more stupid coma nonsense! We are not done with phrasing!

I kind of liked the ‘40s detective season, mainly because that is my favorite period for visuals, and they did put a lot of detail into the art. Plus WWII veteran private detective isn’t that different from a private intelligence operative, when you think about it. The Space 1999 homage was kind of weak, though.
Feel like the coma fantasy was a clever diversion for maybe one season, two would be pushing it, and they just kind of stuck with it too long.

Same, I watched less and less of it as I graduated college and life took over. The weird “coma”/genre-hopping seasons made it less likely I would return with each passing year.

I still haven’t seen season 10. I don’t have cable anymore, or Hulu, so I watch a season when I can buy it on DVD . I actually like season 8, but 9 was unbearable.
I can't wait for him to wake up.
